SUSPLUS conferences

1st SUSPLUS conference ‚Sustainable Food Systems – Outcomes of the SUSPLUS project’

The SUPLUS project consortium will organise an international SUSPLUS conference ‚Sustainable Food Systems – Outcomes of the SUSPLUS project’ for at least 20 local (national) and 20 foreign (international) participants (not including representatives of the universities participating in the project) during BIOFACH – World’s leading trade fair for organic food in Nuremberg (Germany) in February 2018. Organisers of the conference will invite (b) various actors along the food system and (b) representatives of higher education institutions, with the aim of effective dissemination of the intellectual outputs of the project and encouraging participants to make use of similar educational initiatives. Firstly, emphasis will be put on the definitions of ‚Sustainable food system’ as well as students’ understanding of the sustainability and their expectations towards education within this subject area (on the basis of output O1), then guide/booklet on sustainable food system concept (output O2) will be presented, followed by e-learning module & Intensive Study Programme (on the basis of output O6). BIOFACH will give the project consortium great opportunity to widely disseminate SUSPLUS project concepts and outcomes. The best students participating in SUSPLUS educational activities will be invited to participate in the conference and share their experience with international experts. Both presentation and open discussion sessions will be planned. All the presentations from the conference will be placed on the project website, Facebook profile and YouTube account as well as sent by email to all the participants of the conference. They will also be used by project partners during their on-going activities and disseminated using existing educational or research networks.

2nd SUSPLUS conference ‚Sustainable Food Systems – Outcomes of the SUSPLUS project’

Each project partner will organise a conference ‚Sustainable Food Systems. Outcomes of the SUSPLUS project’ (Event Identifications: E2-E9) for at least 25 local (national) participants representing (a) higher education institutions and (b) various actors along the food system, with the aim of effective dissemination of the intellectual outputs of the project and encouraging participants to make use of similar educational initiatives in the future. Firstly, emphasis will be put on the definitions of ‚Sustainable food system’ as well as students’ understanding of the sustainability and their expectations towards education within this subject area (on the basis of output O1), then guide/booklet on sustainable food system concept (output O2) will be presented, followed by e-learning module & Intensive Study Programme (on the basis of output O6), Students’ Small Research Projects (on the basis of output O10), Students’ lectures at schools (on the basis of output O11) and concept for implementing Sustainable Food System including Sustainable Diet in curricula and existing study programmes of partner universities (on the basis of output O12). With regard to the presentation of educational activities carried out within the SUSPLUS project, emphasis will be put on the tested innovative tools and study methods as well as feedback from the students participating in these activities – this should be of great interest for the representatives of higher education institutions, who will be encouraged to implement similar methods and tools within their universities. In addition, potential funding opportunities to develop similar educational initiatives will be presented to the conference participants. It is important to underline that majority of the methods and tools used in the project could be applied to any sector (not only to the subject of sustainable food system), so the audience does not need to be limited to the academic staff working in the topic of sustainable food. Similarly, the analysis of students expectations towards educational methods used at the Universities is not exclusively sector specific, and therefore should be of great interest to the wide range of higher education representatives. Presentation of the general idea and the results of Students’ Small Research Projects carried out within the SUSPLUS will be also addressed to the stakeholders representing food sector, with the aim of encouraging their further cooperation with the universities and therefore participating in education of their future employees. The best students participating in SUSPLUS educational activities will be invited to participate in the conference and share their experience with a group of experts, lecturers and stakeholders. Both presentation and open discussion sessions will be planned. All the presentations from the conference will be placed on the project website, Facebook profile and YouTube account as well as sent by email to all the participants of the conference. They will also be used by project partners during their on-going activities and disseminated using existing educational or research networks.
